What stuck with me most was the way of the hummingbird. It is absolutely brilliant! I was always truly intrigued by its ingenuity, and the superb intuition that it used to build its nest. I am about to share with you how you can use the hummingbird secret to build your nest—your dream.

Up above in the guava tree, the bird gently placed the very first twig and off it went for another. Then it came back with another; then another; then another. And each time, the bird used its beak to intricately weave and line the twigs perfectly. I spent hours quietly observing. Other times, it took the hummingbird longer to come back. But it never gave up on its mission. Little by little over the next few days, the nest began to take shape - with each twig delicately woven together. Wow!

Today, I use the hummingbird’s nest as a metaphor. We all need to learn how to patiently build our own personal nest—our dream—one twig at a time. You say you want to have your own business; you want to get a promotion; you want to become a star, and this and that. So what are you waiting for to start? Oh, you say you don’t have enough money, time, and/or connections? How about collecting your twigs?

You say, “Alright Rene, the hummingbird used twigs to build its nest. What about me?” Well, just get out there and find yourself your first twig—something that would enable you to begin the process of getting what you want. Lord knows I had to carry many, many twigs of my own to be where I am today. The way to the top is by systematically laying and weaving your twigs one at a time.
